Creating a PowerPoint for Thursday's film pitch

If you want to create a PowerPoint at home and then display it in the classroom, I'd recommend you using www.slideshare.net once you've made your slides. Sign up and then upload the file. This will then allow you to put your PowerPoint on your blog very easily :-)

Play Doh Homework details

Your task is to take pictures of your disposable friend creation, using all of the camera angles and shot types we talked about in class.

Once you have done this, you will need to insert these photos into a powerpoint presentation at home.

On each slide include the following information:

Shot type used:
Definition of this shot:
Why it is used:

Then to save time, you will publishing your powerpoint on Slideshare. Don't panic about this! Just follow these steps

1. go to www.slideshare.net
2. log in using the following login: - username: y8english password: y8english
3. click on UPLOAD and upload your powerpoint
4. When it's finished uploading, you will need to get hold of the code to put your file into your own Blogs - find the word "embed" and copy the code across. Example screenshot below:

Then go to your Blog and Compose a new post. Above your text box on the left hand side click on the word "HTML" - this is allow you to paste in the html code you have copied (Computer language) Name your post "Cinematography & Camera Angles"

Click Publish and you're done!

Log in using your group's project code: dhs followed by group number

Have a look at what is available in the sound library on the bar at the top.

There is also quite a bit of information about the project brief (What you have to do and what the rules are)  - plus you can download a sample script example and also the backing track we have been asked to use in our submissions.

If someone in your group has the facilities it may be a good idea for somebody to put the mp3 of the song and put it on a phone for practising?

Homework - Shakespeare Research

Thank you for your patience with our iPad lesson - you were one of the first classes to use these useful resources so difficulties were anticipated and noted for future reference.

As we had a few teething problems, here is this week's homework for the end of the week, to be posted on your Blog:

I would also like some in depth research into Shakespeare's own theatre and some interesting information on this :-) You may need to do some web research on some other websites for this,

8H homework should be completed without copy and pasting but using facts and statistics from reliable sources.

Therefore, I would like two sections to your blogposting:

1. Who was Shakespeare?

2. The Globe Theatre

This should be thorough with links to what websites you have read at the bottom of your homework: This is what we call a bibliography, as it shows where you have gotten your information from. Your work should be a few hundred words so if you have only done a handful of sentences, you will need to revise your post.

Year 7 and 8 Table Tennis Club

Following the recent success of the U16 Girls team in the Merseyside Schools tournament, we are looking to get more U13 Girls (Year 7 and 8) into the sport.

We are holding a new table tennis night on a Thursday. For those who do other sports on a Thursday you may find you can come to table tennis before you go to your other activity.

The year 9 girls are going to offer coaching as well give every pupil who turns up their own time using the training robot - FUN!

Limited spaces, we're only going to allow the first 8 pupils on Thursday so get there as early as you can as the whole point is to keep it a bit calmer than the often chaotic Monday night session that regularly gets 25+ attending.

TASK: To produce a magazine article for young people, that is an introduction to the sport you have researched for homework, to be displayed on the school VLE

Half Term Homework: Recreations task

Part 1: Take the title of or a line from a Shakespeare play and use it as the title for your own piece of writing.

It is not necessary to keep the same characters in exploring similar themes, relationships, ideas. For example: A soliloquy exploring mixed feelings could become a modern dramatic monologue; Capulet's verbal assault on his ungrateful daughter could become the basis of a short story about parent / child relationships; The opening scenes of Macbeth could become the opening of a modern story based on similar events and characters.

Possible titles for your story:
(Not including the most famous plays that you mentioned in class)

• A Winter's Tale
• Twelfth Night
• Much Ado About Nothing
• A Midsummer Night's Dream
• The Taming of the Shrew
• Measure for Measure

Part 2: Once enough people have posted up their homework, I would like you to post a comment on their story. Tell them a couple of specific things you liked about their work - nothing too vague - and then if you can think of something, suggest one way to improve. Very similarly to the Three ticks and a wish idea you may have seen in other subjects.
